Have a stay in the first French town liberated by the U.S parachuting forces on June, 5th 1944.
In the Heart of “the Manche”, 30 kms from Cherbourg and a 1 hour drive from Caen-Ouistreham, on the Normandy landings site, close to the Channel Islands (Jersey, Guernesey, Aurigny), near the Mont Saint Michel, Tatihou Island opposite to Saint-Vaast-La-Hougue fishing port, Sainte Mère Eglise has witnessed important events which have marked the twentieth century.

Situated near the “Boundary stone 0” marking the first steps towards freedom during the Normandy landings of June, 6th 1944.The Hotel Restaurant and steakhouse “The Sainte Mère” will receive you in a warm and convivial setting.

A 5 minutes walk from the church where John Steel, the famous parachutist remained hanged to its steeple in the night of June, 6th 1944. He thus pretended to be dead and was detached by the German soldier Rudolph May. (see the picture representing him on the occasion of the memorial day).
